If you’ve ever painted a room, you probably know what I mean. There’s always that moment when you’ve applied that first layer of paint and the old one still shines through and it suddenly looks so much worse than it did to start with and it makes you wonder if it wouldn’t have been better to keep it as it was. The same of course is true when it comes to making changes in our lives.
Often, we start out with something that’s okay – like the old block of flats – and a vision for a better future. Unfortunately, getting from the one to the other without stirring up some dust is nearly always impossible. The best we can do then is to keep going, knowing the dust will settle and, in time, reveal what had once only existed in our imagination.

Hi, I'm Chantal Valerie. I'm a writer and self-taught illustrator. I am inspired by late bloomers and creative self-starters (I only started drawing at the age of 34) and since I believe they deserve more visibility, I started my blog series ‘5 Questions for …’.
