Hey,
I’m Chantal Valerie. I’m an illustrator and writer, although I prefer calling myself a visual storyteller.
I’m inspired by stories because I believe that a good story can not only transform, enlighten, and enchant us, but also help us see things from a different perspective. Stories act like windows to a different world – real or imagined – and my aim is to create a kind and caring world for children to enter into. A world where friendship, creativity, community, and the small pleasures in life are being celebrated. By drawing anthropomorphised animals, I want to express that we are not all that different. Animals and humans - we are all part of the natural world; we all have different personalities, feel happy and sad and everything in between and we all love to play. My illustrations express my love for nature, they are gentle and warm, but also playful and infused with a sense of humour.
